Covid-19 Reflections- Forgiveness

In the name of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful.

Assalaamu’ alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu Dear Community,

Recently mankind has been gripped by a global pandemic, the coronavirus Covid-19. As it stands thousands have been affected, thousands deceased and thousands are at risk.

As Muslims we understand that Allah created life with a purpose (for us to worship only Him) and we shall eventually return to Him. Therefore it is incumbent upon us to assess and amend our current ways from one of heedlessness, disobedience and unaccountability to one of virtue, honesty and sincerity.

Allah The Almighty tells us in the Qur’an chapter 67 (Surah Al- Mulk) verse1-2:

“Blessed be He in Whose Hand is the dominion; and He is Able to do all things.

Who has created death and life that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving..”

Allah Glory be to Him is All Knowing and has power over everything. He knows what has, does and will happen and why.

Here is our wake up call. A blessing in disguise.

This is our chance to seek Allah’s forgiveness, follow His guidance and share the message of peace and submission to Allah. This is our chance for self-improvement, enjoining good and forbidding evil. We have long been complacent about the ill doings of society and often very much a part of it ourselves. It is time to leave ignorance and immorality behind and start living the way Allah wants us to.

Sincere repentance requires us to stop wrongdoing, to beg Allah’s pardon, do good and keep it going. We must purify our intention and do everything out of obedience to Allah.

Sadaqa averts calamity so give charity, particularly to our close community, relatives and especially to our displaced brothers and sisters of war torn poverty stricken lands. Now is the time to be the kind stranger and bring our nation together. We have a duty.

This is a reminder to myself more than anything and to share with the ummah in general for the sake of Allah, as Allah says in the Qur’an Chapter 51 Surah Adh-Dhariyat verse 55:

“And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.“

We too are imperfect fellow human beings. So may Allah forgive us and please let us forgive each other for our shortcomings.

Praise be to Allah. We ask Allah to bless us with good, have mercy on us and guide us to the Straight Path. Ameen.

Stay safe.

Countdown to RAMADAN- reminder to make up missed fasts before Ramadan 1441

Asalamu alaykum

Bismillah

We have a few days remaining of this sacred month of Rajab 1441, and those of us who owe missed fasts from previous Ramadan, we really must make them up now in sha Allah!

Don’t worry about the length of the day etc, let us put our trust in Allah, and it will be alright. (Alhamdulillah) Remember Allah is Al-Qadeer (capable of all things) and He will surely help us and make it possible.

fruits agriculture

Trust Allah, that we can do it! And it’s good preparation for Ramadan in sha Allah!

Be inspired by those who have genuine difficulty/lack of resources and food, but soldier on for the sake of Allah.

Remember Allah gave us a lot more than others, so let’s drop the excuses and start showing Allah more gratitude by obeying Him as we owe Him everything, because He owns everything!!!

May Allah grant us the ability. May Allah make us sincere and make our fasting easy, rewarded and accepted and may He grant us many Ramadans in His obedience, Ya Rabb al aalameen! Allahumma Salli alaa Rasoolillah Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam!

Ameen.

Peace and love.

It was narrated from Mu’aadh ibn Jabal that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The shaytaan is the wolf of man like the wolf of sheep takes the stray sheep and the one that wanders far. Beware of division, and adhere to the jamaa’ah.”

Narrated by Ahmad (22029); classed as hasan by the editors of al-Musnad.

During the summer, walhamdulillah, we had some fabulous meet-ups for Muslim women and children. It was a wonderful environment, as the children played and ran around, the women benefitted from a gathering where Allah is mentioned, shared their own experiences and nibbled some snacks and fizzy refreshments!

If you weren’t there, you can benefit from the following reminders below: be sure to share with one and all!

This book was available from the help desks in Masjid Al Haram, Makkah, KSA

It is crucial that we purify our intentions purely for The One True God, Allah alone.

It is vital we hold onto The Qur’an (Final revealed book from Allah) and The Sunnah (teachings of Allah’s final prophet Muhammad upon him be peace).

It is necessary for us respect the Sahabah (righteous companions of the Prophet Muhammad upon him be peace, may Allah be pleased with them). The sahabah practiced Islam the way Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) taught it to them, the perfect and complete way.

These were some of the beautiful reminders, among socialising and snacks and helping each other out!

Jazakallah khair everyone who was a part of it and please keep us in duas and support us however you can.

Allah forgive all our errors. Allah guide us to the straight path, the correct belief, upon Al Quran and sunnah always, with sincerity in our intentions. wasallallahu alaa nabiyina Muhammad! amin

salam!

VIRTUES OF THE FIRST 10 DAYS DHUL HIJJAH! [SACRIFICE]

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH

VIRTUES OF THE FIRST 10 DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH!  [SACRIFICE]

QURBANI/UDHIYAH- SACRIFICING AN ANIMAL IN OBEDIENCE TO ALLAH

Check out the previous post with some amazing tips on how to make the best of these 10 days

Best 10 days of the year

Want to know what udhiyah/Qurbani is? Read this:

Definition of udhiyah and ruling thereon

What is meant by udhiyah (sacrifice)? Is it obligatory or Sunnah?.

Praise be to Allaah.
The word udhiyah means an animal of the ‘an’aam class (i.e., camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the days of Eid al-Adha because of the Eid and as an act of worship, intending to draw closer to Allaah thereby.

This is one of the rituals of Islam prescribed in the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and according to the consensus of the Muslims.

In the Qur’aan:

1 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only)”

[al-Kawthar 108:2]

2 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Say (O Muhammad): Verily, my Salaah (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allaah, the Lord of the ‘Aalameen (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims”

[al-An’aam 6:162]

The word nusuk (translated here as sacrifice) means sacrifice; this is the view of Sa’eed ibn Jubayr. And it was said that it means all acts of worship, including sacrifice, which is more comprehensive.

3 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And for every nation We have appointed religious ceremonies, that they may mention the Name of Allaah over the beast of cattle that He has given them for food. And your Ilaah (God) is One Ilaah (God Allaah), so you must submit to Him Alone (in Islam). And (O Muhammad) give glad tidings to the Mukhbitoon [those who obey Allaah with humility and are humble from among the true believers of Islamic Monotheism]”

[al-Hajj 22:34]

In the Sunnah:

1 – It was narrated in Saheeh al-Bukhaari (5558) and Saheeh Muslim (1966) that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sacrificed two white rams speckled with black. He slaughtered them with his own hand, said ‘Allaahu akbar’ and put his foot on their necks.”

2 – It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stayed in Madeenah for ten years, offering sacrifice (every year on Eid).” Narrated by Ahmad, 4935; al-Tirmidhi, 1507; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Mishkaat al-Masaabeeh, 1475.

3 – It was narrated from ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) shared out sacrificial animals amongst his companions, and ‘Uqbah got a sheep that was six months old. He said, “O Messenger of Allaah, I got a sheep that is six months old.” He said, “Offer it as a sacrifice.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5547.

4 – It was narrated from al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever offers a sacrifice after the prayer has completed his rituals (of Eid) and has followed the way of the Muslims.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5545.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) offered sacrifices, as did his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them). And he said that sacrifice is the way of the Muslims.

Hence the Muslims are unanimously agreed that it is prescribed in Islam, as was narrated by more than one of the scholars.

But they differed as to whether it is Sunnah mu’akkadah (a confirmed Sunnah) or it is obligatory and it is not permissible to omit it.

The majority of scholars are of the view that it is Sunnah mu’akkadah. This is the view of al-Shaafa’i, Maalik and Ahmad according to his most well-known view.

Others were of the view that it is obligatory. This is the view of Abu Haneefah and one of the views narrated from Ahmad. This was also the view favoured by Ibn Taymiyah who said: “This is one of the views narrated in the madhhab of Maalik, or it appears to be the view of Maalik.”

From Risaalat Ahkaam al-Udhiyah wa’l-Dhakaah by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him).

Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Udhiyah is Sunnah mu’akkadah for the one who is able to do it, so a person should offer the sacrifice on behalf of himself and the members of his household.”

Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 2/661.

REMINDER:

If a person wants to offer an udhiyah, then it is haraam – according to the more correct view – for him to remove anything from his hair or nails until he offers his sacrifice, regardless of whether he offers his sacrifice at the beginning of the time for it, immediately after the Eid prayer, or at the end of the time, i.e., before sunset on the thirteenth of Dhu’l-Hijjah.

That is because of the report narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh (1977) from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever has an animal to sacrifice, when the new moon of Dhu’l-Hijjah appears, let him not remove anything from his hair or nails, until he has offered his sacrifice.”

May Allah enable us to draw near to Him with obligatory and voluntary acts of worship. Allahumma salli alaa Rasoolullah ameen.

It’s the Day of Arafat soon- Fasting-Let’s Pray Our Sins are Forgiven!ThurrockMuslims.com

It’s the Day of Arafat soon- Let’s Pray Our Sins are Forgiven!!!

‘It was reported from Abu Qutaadah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on the Day of ‘Arafaah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” Narrated by Muslim.’ sheikh sajid umar what to do ten days dhul hijjah

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Reciting Takbeer: Let us not forget to make the Takbeer following the obligatory prayers, starting after Fajr on Arafat day, till when the sun sets on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. (see below for details).

‘It is Sunnah to recite takbeer at any time during the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah and all the days of Tashreeq, starting from the beginning of the month of Dhu’l-Hijjah (i.e., from sunset on the last day of Dhu’l-Qa’dah) until the end of the days of al-Tashreeq, which is when the sun sets on the thirteenth day of Dhu’l-Hijjah).

With regard to at certain times, it starts from Fajr on the day of ‘Arafah and lasts until the sun sets on the last day of the days of Tashreeq, in addition to the takbeer that may be recited at any time. So when a person says the tasleem at the end of the obligatory prayer, he should pray for forgiveness (by saying Astaghfir-Allaah) three times, and say, “Allaahumma anta al-salaam wa minka al-salaam, tabaarakta yaa dhaa’l-jalaali wa’l-ikraam (“O Allaah, You are al-Salaam [the One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies), and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O possessor of majesty and honour)”, then start the takbeer.

{Takbeer: Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa lillaahi’l-hamd(Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and to Allaah be praise). }

This is for those who are not on Hajj. The pilgrims should start the takbeer recited after prayer from Zuhr on the Day of Sacrifice (the 10th of Dhu’l-Hijjah).

 And Allaah knows best.

See Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him), 13/17; al-Sharh al-Mumti’ by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him), 5/220-224.’ [see http://islamqa.info/en/36627]

Keep us in your prayers!

Alhamdulillah. May Allah have mercy on us all and forgive us,guide us and grant us jannat-al-firdaus, wasallallahu ala nabiyinaa Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam! ameen.

10 things that bring about the Love of Allah – Ibn alQayyim

Asalamu alaykum!

10 things that bring about the Love of Allah – Ibn alQayyim

1. Recitation of the Qur’an with reflection and understanding of its meaning.

2. Seeking closeness to Allah by performing voluntary deeds after obligatory ones, for that leads one to the highest levels of love.

3. Remembering Allah in every situation by one’s time, heart and deeds. One’s share of that love is to the degree of one’s share with that remembrance.

4. Preferring what He loves to what you love when your desires are strong.

5. Allowing your heart to reflect on His Names and Attributes.

6. Reflecting on His many favours and blessings both the apparent ones and hidden ones, for that leads to His love.

7. Having your heart soften as it is worshipping Allah.

love in the sand8. Being alone with Him in worship when He descends during the last third of the night. To invoke Him, to recite His speech (Quran), to stand with all sincerity (in prayer) and with good manners and good submission (humility) and to end that with repentance and seeking His forgiveness.

9. Sitting with those who are truthful in their love of Allah.

10. Staying away from all that creates barriers between the heart and Allah.

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to mankind): “If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Qur’an chapter 3 verse 31]

May Allah enable us to be of those whom He loves and is pleased with, and those who practise what we preach, ya Salam, ya Rabb al alameen! Allahumma salli wasallim alaa nabiyinaa Muhammad!
