NOW’S THE TIME! – Fasting in SHAWWAL after Ramadan

Asalamu ‘alaykum amazing individuals

So we’re 8 days into Shawwal 1437, it’s been a week post Ramadan. How are you feeling iman-wise?

olives n breadPerhaps we’ve slacked a little on our Qur’an recitation regime…

Perhaps we’re not praying much optional prayers…

Perhaps we’ve fallen into the same bad habits pre-Ramadan…

Feeling regretful? That’s the first step to change. Let us acknowledge our faults, and seek Allah’s forgiveness. Let us resolve to change for the better.

WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE!

Let’s revive the Ramadan atmosphere by increasing our ibadah, by quality and quantity in sha Allah!

We have around 21 days left to make a positive difference!

Top Tips to revive our iman (faith, in statement and action) after Ramadan

  1. Let us make more istighfar, seek Allah’s forgiveness, saying Astaghfirullah, SubhanAllahi wabihamdi, Astaghfirullaha wa atoobo ilayhi, and this amazing dua called sayyid al istighfar you MUST learn (click here!)
  2. Strive to pray the five prayers on time
  3. Strive to spend in charity
  4. Do good and remind others to do good and keep away from and forbid evil, trying hard to practice what we preach.
  5. Read more Qur’an at least a page or so a day, try to read some tafsir or translation too.
  6. Have good character/perfecting it
  7. Make someone smile : )
  8. More remembrance of Allah, subhanaAllah, walhamdulillah, wallahuakbar, wa la ilaha ilallah! Because it’s all about Allah, Al-Wahid, alone!
  9. Do sunnah acts, optional prayers
  10. Fast 6 days of Shawwal! Here’s an awesome opportunity…

Abu Ayyub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who observes As-Saum (the fasts) in the month of Ramadan, and also observes As-Saum for six days in the month of Shawwal, it is as if he has observed As-Saum for the whole year.”

[Muslim].

Subhanallah, WOW! : o

Narrated Abu Ayyub:

The Prophet (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone fasts during Ramadan, then follows it with six days in Shawwal, it will be like a perpetual fast.

ALLAHUAKBAR!

Don’t forget to make up what you owe of this Ramadan first (if any obligatory ones are outstanding e.g. ladies during their days off -menses etc.). We must complete Ramadan before following it with the Shawwal fasts, in sha Allah, as the Imam of Masjid an Nabawi reminded us in the Friday Sermon last year in Shawwal.

What an amazing sunnah, let’s try to fulfil this in sha Allah and tell others too, for the sake of Allah. Alhamdulillah. May Allah grant us the ability to serve Him according to Qur’an and Sunnah, with sincerity and sound intentions. wasallallahu ala nabiyinaa Muhammad. ameen ya Rab al alameen!

We’re blessed, but deprived…

In the name of Allah.

Who doesn’t have a smartphone/tablet/laptop/electronic gadget of some sort today?

In fact, many of us probably have one of these, or one of each, or even more than one of each…

Yes, so Alhamdulillah, we’re blessed with these fabulous gadgets that we use for hours on end.

We have all the time to use our digital darlings, but we’re deeply deprived.

Why?

Because which of us doesn’t have a Qur’an application on our devices, or a means to access it via WiFi or internet, but we chose to avoid it.

We have the time to make consecutive phone calls and messages. Minutes turn to hours. Granted, we’re busy- but we’ve got five, ten, fifteen minutes to spare to update our social media accounts, to browse the web, to take selfies…

When will we decide to read a verse or two of the Qur’an? It’s not that we don’t have time for it, it’s that we won’t make time for it…

Don’t we know what we’re missing out on? Our hearts are heavy, our minds are overwhelmed, our problems are many, yet we have the solutions, in the Qur’an. If only we would read.

The Qur’an is a healing, guidance and a mercy for the believers. Please read a few lines from Surah Ar-Rahman.

Have you done this today?

Asalamu alaykum.

Ramadan is the month of the Qur’an.

Won’t we make time for it?

Set aside 5,10,20, X minutes each day, in sha Allah, even little but often, for the sake of Allah, and make sure, we reignite our relationship with this Noble book of guidance, in it is mercy, guidance and healing for the believer.

2:185
Sahih International translation

The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. [Qur’an, al-Baqarah ,verse 165]

RAMADAN ROUND THE CORNER!

Bismillah

Asalamu alaykum all, Muslims in Thurrock, Basildon, Grays and worldwide. In Sha Allah everything’s good.

Can you believe it’s already one week into Sha’ban 1436, the month preceding Ramadan!

May Allah help us prepare and witness many Ramadan’s in total submission to Him alone and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His final messenger Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam. ameen.

Here’s a short video on some beautiful dua’s and words of repentance we can make.

We are human, so we make mistakes and sin. And we sin, small or big sins, once or repeatedly. But don’t despair of Allah’s mercy. Allah is The Most Merciful, The Oft-Pardoning, The Perpetual Forgiver, so never think your sins are to big to be forgiven! Allah accepts us when we run back to Him sincerely repentant, so may Allah make us sincerely repent! ameen!

Oh, and do check out the previous post of the best form of seeking forgiveness, the Sheikh repeats that dua in Arabic in the video below, so be sure to listen!

RAMADAAN

In the name of Allah

Asalamu alaykum dear brothers and sisters.

We have ahead of us a very special month in the Islamic calendar. A month of hope, a month of mercy, a month of opportunity. We have before us none other than the month of Ramadaan, the month of fasting.

fasting prescribed 4 u baqarah

It is with great joy and anticipation we await this delightful month to commence, and we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’alaa (Glorified and exalted is He) to grant us the ability, spiritual, emotional, psychological, physiological and financial strength to serve Him in this month of mercy and beyond.

It is worth mentioning that preparation begins before Ramadaan begins, and it is the help of Allah we seek. Undoubtedly, this is an advice to me before it is you, dear reader.

Dear brothers and sisters, let us revive our relationship with the Noble book of Allah, The Qur’an.

Let us be optimistic and hope to benefit from the remarkable parables, admonitions and promises mentioned in the Qur’an.

My dearest brothers and sisters, if you cannot recall the last time you engaged with the Qur’an, do not despair. There is hope. For today, counting down less than a fortnight till Ramadaan, you can make a difference- right now, in sha Allah.

Be resolute. Make wudu (ablution). Make du’a, ask Allah to facilitate your affairs. Be sincere for Allah. And go and open the mushaf (even if it is an electronic version of the Qur’an). And start to read. Read an ayah. Read two. Five, ten. Increase it as the days go by. Read, Recite. Recite it with tajweed, with accurate and beautiful recitation. Better still, let us endeavour to understand the meaning, the explanation (tafsir) of the ayaat, then let us reflect. And let us watch our lives transform, in sha Allah.

Allaah says (English interpretation of the meaning):

“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Sawm (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allaah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allaah [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar: Allaah is the Most Great)] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.”

[Qur’an, chapter al-Baqarah 2: verse 185]

May Allah allow us to reach Ramadaan prepared, and may He make it a prosperous and accepted Ramadaan. ameen
